ONSITE Comic Character Design [Ages 10-16]
ONSITE Comic Character Design [Ages 10-16]
In this class, students will learn the methods of sequential art by combining words (what the characters say) with pictures (showing what they do) in order to effectively tell a story. Students will start off with a series of individual and group exercises—action-to-action, moment-to-moment, and scene-to-scene—that will help guide them through the process of conceptualizing and developing their ideas. Next, they will refine thumbnail sketches of characters and page layouts accompanied by a script to give the story greater clarity and impact. The final result will be a comic featuring superheroes, manga, cartoon, or any conceivable host of characters.
Note: “Comic Book Illustration” is not required as a prerequisite for this course, but it is recommended for those who want to first learn the basics or who wish to draw comics without an accompanying storyline.

Masks

Order No. 242 signed on Friday, May 28 is aware that “different masking rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals” would mean that Perkins Center for the Arts “would bear the burden of distinguishing between vaccinated and unvaccinated patrons.” The Perkins staff is not in a position to bear this burden and will depend on the cooperation of each individual.

Perkins Center respects the rights of each individual member, student, staff member, faculty member, and patron. Unvaccinated individuals and children ages 11 and under will still be required to wear face masks when inside the buildings for events, classes, and summer camp at this time.  Perkins Center for the Arts requires faculty and staff working directly with children to be masked as well.

Perkins Center for the Arts will not require masks in any outdoor setting at the Moorestown or Collingswood buildings. However, recognizing that there continues to be some risk of COVID spread, it is highly encouraged that unvaccinated individuals continue to wear masks indoors or where distancing is not an option.  We thank you all for your partnership as we all navigate the landscape together. We thank you for helping to continue to make Perkins a safe and welcoming environment for all.
