Pysanky Workshop: Wax Resist on Eggs - Moorestown
Pysanky Workshop: Wax Resist on Eggs - Moorestown
THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED. RESCHEDULED DATE TBD.
Join us this spring for a unique opportunity to learn a skill that is traditionally passed down by the Matriarch of the family to their children in Ukraine. Pysanky, also known as Ukrainian eggs, is a folk tradition that is both art and prayer. This workshop will cover the history and traditions surrounding pysanky, how to make your own egg, and an independent practice session. With hot wax, dye, and a great deal of concentration and patience, you will leave with a beautiful egg. All skill levels can create an original pysanka. The instructor will provide a variety of eggs, many hard-to-find traditional and non-traditional colored dyes, and tools. Please bring a container or old egg carton.
