Pottery Form & Function - Collingswood

This class will explore a wide variety of clay hand-building techniques on and off the potter's wheel, as well as surface design and decoration. Students will have the opportunity to develop projects based on their personal goals and interests. All levels, including beginners, are welcome. This course may be repeated.

Please note that clay must be purchased at Perkins Center for this class. Clay is $25 per 25lb bag. If you own a toolkit you are encouraged to bring it to class, otherwise, pottery toolkits are available for purchase at both Perkins locations. Toolkits are $14, payments by credit card only.

About the Artist:

DEBORAH WILLIAMS is the owner of Rankokus Pottery, making wheel thrown and hand built functional pottery in her home studio.  She graduated from Rutgers University in 1976 with a BA in Fine Art, focusing on sculpture. Deborah’s teaching experience has spanned 30 years, as an instructor at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia for nearly 25 years, and was an adjunct professor at Rutgers University teaching Ceramics, Sculpture and 2D and 3D Design.  She has provided clay residencies in Philadelphia through the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership at UArts, and The Clay Studio’s Claymobile.  She runs a senior citizen class at Allens Lane Art Center, and teaches adults at the University City Arts League, both in Philadelphia. She is currently on the teaching artist roster with the NJ and PA State Councils on the Arts.
