Plein Air Painting - Learn the Essentials
Plein Air Painting - Learn the Essentials

For those of you who have ever wanted to paint plein air, but need a little more instruction in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, then this course for you.

We will cover oil painting, watercolor and drawing as we learn to analyze the landscape scene and quickly block it in to capture light and shadow while working towards a finished painting on site. At the end of this course you will possess the skills necessary to venture out on your own to paint plein air.

A solid understanding of drawing, value, design, and color is fundamental when it comes to analyzing the subject at hand and completing a solid painting. We will cover these principals in depth and discuss how they apply to form, shape and value commonly found in a natural environment. Participants should expect plenty of personal attention and daily demos. A basic understanding of art fundamentals and the media you wish to work with are essential.

This class will meet at various locations all within a 15 mi. radius of Perkins in Moorestown. If it rains, classes will meet in the DanceHouse Studio at Perkins Center in Moorestown. Look for weekly emailed updates from the instructor.
