ONSITE Sumi Brush Painting - Moorestown

Participants will be introduced to the essential tools and materials involved in bamboo brush painting, including the ink stick, grinding stone, bamboo brush, and rice paper. Techniques to be learned include fundamental brush strokes, composition, and the use of negative space. Participants will also learn about Eastern perspective and philosophies. No prerequisite needed. Bamboo brush, ink and paper will be provided.

Onsite classes are small in size for safety.

About the Artist:

Jenson Cheng is a Taiwanese born Asian American sculptor, painter, designer, craftsman, and educator. After graduating from the Taiwanese National University of Arts majoring in sculpture, Jenson studied commercial design in US and holds a MFA in Museum Planning and Design from the University of The Arts. He is skilled in a wide variety of art mediums and has experience in both Western and Eastern arts. For the past 20 years, he has devoted his time to educating and promoting the Chinese Cultural arts by teaching at the Cheltenham Art Center, Wayne Art Center, and several public and private schools in Philadelphia.
