Join Kathy Dallara and create colorful, original collage paintings. You will use images you are passionate as your center piece. You will learn how to choose your subject as well as various set-up methods.

Students are encouraged to use reference photos, sketches, and their imagination. Kathy will demonstrate how to use your cell phone as an editing tool. She will give photo lighting tips and show how black and white values can help you best create your collage paintings. You will make an underpainting and explore various types of papers for collaging. She will also cover color theory, composition, drawing, and acrylic painting for collage.

All levels of painting with drawing skills are welcome.

Materials List:

Drawing pencils graphite and kneadable eraser

Fluid paint acrylics -Professional Golden or Liquitex paint beginners Red, Yellow, Blue and Burnt Umber Advanced Student colors - ultramarine blue, cadmium red, viridian green, cadmium yellow, burnt umber, Payne’s grey, and white.

Brushes for Acrylic paints.

Gloss Gel medium jar or matte medium liquid

Ephemera - Old Papers, magazines for collage and your printed papers.

Scissors (cutting tools)

Substrate: Smooth HP Illustration board - Hot Press or 140 hot press WC paper taped on gatorboard.
